Greece is a Schengen country. International participants should verify whether they need a visa or travel authorisation and begin any required immigration procedure well in advance of AES 2027.

Do I need a Schengen visa?
Greece is part of the Schengen area. EU/EEA and Swiss nationals may travel with a valid identity card or passport, subject to the applicable entry rules.
Nationals of some non-EU countries may enter the Schengen area without a visa for short stays, although an ETIAS travel authorisation may be required by the time of AES 2027. Nationals of countries subject to the Schengen visa requirement must obtain a short-stay visa before travelling.
Short stays are generally limited to 90 days in any 180-day period across the Schengen area.

If you need a visa
Participants who require a visa should apply through the consulate or visa centre of the Schengen country that is their main destination. For participants travelling principally to Greece for AES 2027, this will normally be the Greek consulate or the visa centre representing Greece in their country of legal residence.
Invitation letters
Authors of accepted papers who require supporting documentation for a visa application may request an official AES 2027 invitation letter.
The letter can confirm the conference, its dates (16–19 March 2027), the venue (War Museum of Athens, Athens), the accepted paper and the participant’s role.
An invitation letter does not guarantee that a visa will be issued and does not constitute financial sponsorship. Visa decisions are made solely by the competent authorities; AES cannot influence or expedite the outcome.
Apply early
Participants who require a visa should begin the process as early as possible and before making non-refundable travel arrangements.
